SS.{S. Smith} STARTING HANDLE GEAR.

Herewith we send N.sch. 2684 shewing the arrangement of the starting handle on the SS.{S. Smith} engine.

An alternative method of carrying the front end of the spring is shewn, and it is suggested that the simple one without a washer should be used first.

We shall send you particulars of the dumb iron in the course of a day or two.
