INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY (GREAT BRITAIN) LTD. TELEPHONES PAISLEY 4141/5 TELEGRAMS: INDIAOWL, RENFREW INCHINNAN SCOTLAND OUR REF PW/FGE. YOUR REF April, 21st, 1933. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. LID{A. J. Lidsey} Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Hives. Referring to the recent visit of our special representative, Lord Rothes, in connection with 5.50/18 tyre for the Bentley, we are pleased to note that you are interested in our Silent Tread Tyre which we have recently designed for you. We would point out that a feature of this design is the uneven pitch of the studs, the outer studs increasing in size while the inner studs decrease, the idea being to prevent hum or drumming from developing. The design is also arranged with a view to preventing air being pocketed in the area in contact with the road thus eliminating screach caused by the pocketed air being released as road contact is broken. We will despatch seven more of these tyres marked for your attention, to Derby on Tuesday April 25th. After we have had the opportunity of discussing the matter further with Lord Rothes we will write you should any point develop which we have not covered in this letter. Yours faithfully, INDIA TYRE & RUBBER CO.(G.B.) LIMITED. Paul Worth. Works Manager. X4462, | ||
