Simplified Epicyclic Gear with X No. 3372. Friction damped spring anchorage, for Seaplanes & Flying Boats. (Let. 1041). Drawing No. G.6525/6. Part List. G.6525/6. Origin. Simplification and lightening of friction anchorage, since its function is now simply that of slipping when prop: strikes water. Admiralty consent obtained. Experimental Test Report. EH6/L&27119. "We have now completed 100 hours test on this new gear. The engine has been run on the hangar. The revs. have been between 1700 and 1750. The H.P. about 320. We have examined the parts and find them all to be in excellent condition. There is no appreciable wear on the teeth or on the serrated coupling. The amount of wear on the roller bearings is less than .001". The loose split cone which the propeller hub bears on is in good condition. It has the usual markings, which we get with that" "A" Scrap and replace at all costs. "B" Scrap and replace on those engines in Works. "C" Scrap present stock and replace on all engines not yet handed to test. "D" Use-up existing stock. Alteration effective on future engines. Signature of Expl. Dept. that above is correct.
