R.R. 235A (100 T) (S.H. 159, 11-8-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2800 ORIGINAL TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} S E C R E T. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M3.3.23. c.c to CJ. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. X9810 X9470 We send herewith N. scheme 1383 which shews a rig for testing the proposed method of fixing the cheeses on the next steering. We should like you to rig this up as was originally suggested for the screwed-in trunnion pin, a design which has now been abandoned in favour of the one shewn on N. scheme 1383. We believe it would be very useful for you to try this at this stage to make sure that the new method of fixing is an improvement on the present form. We have shewn on the main scheme a taper of 1 in 8 for the collet. We should like somewhat steeper tapers tried in the event of the 1 in 8 failing, as we have indicated on the drawing.
