The S.U. Company Ltd.,

For the attention of Mr. Skinner.

Dear Sirs,

I am writing you with regard to the experimental needles for our 20/25 ordered in our letter reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}5/KW.2.7.35.

These needles have arrived and we find that there is far too much variation in the length of the parallel shank. As you will see from the attached print, this length should be .625" + .005" but the dimensions of the 4 needles supplied are as follows :-

XC4 .6225" XC5 .6175"
XC6 .619" XC7 .611"

I am sure you will appreciate the difficulties we have with consumptions and performances with needles made in this manner and I shall be very pleased if you will ensure that all future needles supplied to us are within our drawing limits.

We have to-day ordered through our Order Office 25 XC3 needles for special tests, and we would like you to see that all dimensions are accurate. These needles should be parted off square at dimension 14, and the limit on the total length of the needle should not exceed .005".
