BENTLEY CHASSIS.
KLG 765.A.SPARKING PLUGS.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/MA.13.8.35.

I am afraid my memo to Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SE of the 2.7.35 is rather misleading.

The actual facts are, Chassis B.185.DK was sent in by LH.{Mr Haworth} to ascertain the cause for it having oiled up plugs when in the course of being delivered to a new owner.

Having examined the engine and found nothing abnormal, we could only presume that the oiling up was due not to excessive oiling but to defective plugs. I hope this clears up the question of oiling up.

I am pleased to note that you are sending down to me at K, a set of KLG type 850. I will endeavour to find a chassis from the owner of which I can obtain a reliable report.

Under the heading of misfiring over 2,500.r.p.m. I have got a good case in point at present. Chassis No.B.9.CW came in to K on the 5.7.35 with a mileage of 12085 with the trouble misfiring; again on the 12th July with the same trouble, the mileage then being 12340. The car had therefore covered 255 miles between the change of plugs.

It is in again today,(14.8.35) the mileage now is 15,386, with the same trouble (misfiring), over 2,700 RPM the mileage since the last change of plugs being 3,046.

These plugs are available for your inspection and are being returned to you under cover of our advice note No.4211, marked for your attention. They are exactly as removed from the chassis and have not been opened for examination. I am given to understand this owner is using"Ethyl" fuel.

When these arrive we propose handling them direct to you, without clearing for test.
