X4221 R.R. 403 (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-23). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. COPIES TO: R.CJ. BJ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} OY. Expl. No. 4221 REF. Hsl/LG23.12.24. OBJECT OF TEST. Tests on 20 HP. Crankshaft. TESTER. T. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Warwick. CONDITIONS. Road tests under power and towing. SUMMARY OF TEST. The fracture on the disc crankshaft is very similar to fractures we had on the model aero engine disc cranks on the test rig. It would appear that it is a torsional vibration which causes the failure. It is interesting that we have been able to break a standard one at the same point. hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
