W/K.{Mr Kilner} (Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}). BY/RD.3/B.16.8.37. Dynamo Failure B.41.IK. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/DBP.13.8.37. We note the remarks you have made in the above memo' and we fail to see any reason why the touching of the two connectors underneath the distribution board should have any effect whatsoever, on the dynamo charge. They are, in fact, already connected to each other in as much that each is connected to No.6 terminal, one on the upper and one on the lower side of the fuse. We agree therefore, that in the event of there being a leak to earth from any accessories attached to these terminals the effect would be to by-pass the ammeter, but this would surely represent a short circuit, which would cause the fuse to go. One can only conclude that this is one of the cases where the dismantling and re-erection of the unit itself will right the unknown fault. We will however, endeavour to further pursue this matter with a view to producing a satisfactory explanation. BY/RD. | ||
