Dear Sirs, For the attention of W.A. Robotham Esq. We are in receipt of your letter of the 24th instant for which we thank you. The writer, however, is afraid you misunderstood what he told you upon his visit to your Works. The plug you saw was the type 550 with a different type of electrode which has been designed to overcome any difficulty that may be experienced in connection with the burning away of the central electrode due to the H.T. electrical current. The plug will not stand any more gas heat than the type of 550 plug which you are using at present. When the writer visited your Works you advised him that our standard type of 550 had, up to that time, given you every satisfaction, but if you have had trouble through overheating or burning of the internal insulation we should be obliged if you would be kind enough to return to us the plugs which have given trouble marked for the attention of the writer, when the matter shall receive our immediate attention. We would like to take this opportunity of explaining that we make at the present moment a very large number of different types of plugs intended for racing purposes, and, after we have examined the plugs which have given you trouble, we shall be in a better position to judge the heat resistance necessary in your engine.
