10,000 Miles Bentley - 5-B-IV.

In view of the recent controversy about 14" drums for the Bentley, it has now been agreed that 5-B-IV shall go to France fitted with 14" drums at present being detailed by By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and the standard system of brake leverage, instead of the direct to all four at present fitted.

We do not want to scrap any of the direct to all four wheel brake parts, as they will be fitted in conjunction with the Girling brake parts which will be supplied in the middle of January.

In addition we have to get on the car strengthened up pivots, which at the present moment are being detailed.

Instead of the smaller dynamo, the present standard Bentley dynamo will be fitted with the latest voltage controlled regulator.

Instructions for the clutch are of course rather indefinite since the design has failed. If, however, between now and the end of January we can get the engine to run smoothly with the thin disc flywheel with the thin back plate, we shall send the car to France with this arrangement and a Borg & Beck 11" clutch.

Will you please obtain a set of Dunlop wheels for this car.
