Vickers} JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} Gmr SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} Kgt Improvements to S2 Saloons Distinguishing Marks Ref: Rpd C43 27 2 60 (paragraph 2) The most suitable and perhaps the most attractive method of providing a distinguishing mark for recognition between S2 and S1 type cars would be by the provision of a small medallion as illustrated in the attached sketch. Such a piece could be fitted retrospectively by those who wish and by traders with second hand stock. It will be noticed that individual designs denoting '2' or 'II' respectively for Bentley or Silver Cloud would be necessary, but tool costs for this type of article should not be prohibitive. If the idea of something so lacking in subtlety as a medallion is considered undesirable for a distinguishing mark, then alternatively I would suggest that a new appearance could be given to either the bumper overriders or the wheel discs. The disadvantage here obviously is the impracticability of retrospective fitting and also the time and cost factor involved in alterations to functional pieces. JPB | ||
