For the attention of Mr.W.E.Robinson.

Dear Sir,

We find it rather inconvenient on our chassis to incorporate the relay switch in connection with the use of WT horns. In this connection we have had to refuse temporarily the fitting of these horns on Mr.Geoffrey Smith's car and our own Managing Director, Mr.Sidgreaves' car.

Upon second thoughts, however, we feel that a good compromise could be made by connecting the horns to a small switch which in one position would operate the high note horn only, the other switch position permitting both horns to operate full strength. This will obviate the use of a relay switch and resistance and we are of the opinion that our present horn switch, which has very good Platinum Iridium contacts, will stand the current. The only question is whether there will be too much volt drop in our cable particularly the one going up the steering column.

We propose carrying out tests on these lines but would recommend that you would consider in some cases the above arrangement of the WT horns in preference to the existing arrangement as suggested by yourselves, as we feel that with a low battery voltage there would be some uncertainty in the horns operating in the "soft" position.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
