Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sft.{Mr Swift} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} RHO. re 25-HP and Bensport Crankshaft Slipper Drive. Referring to the trouble of damage resulting to the slipper drives during testing, in which the adjusting washers become scored by the driving springs. We have been thoroughly over the whole of the design and make various modifications, as shown on LeC.3459, which we send you herewith. The modifications are: No.1. We have arranged for more side clearance, fore and aft, for the driving springs. No.2. We have provided improved radial location for the springs. No.3. Simplified machining and better area of contacts for the stops. No.4. Increase in area to the thrust face of the adjusting plate. No.5. A stiffened up friction plate - LeC.3304, which we instructed some time ago, is incorporated. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
