Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}8/MH.{M. Huckerby}1.5.39.

BRAKES B.V. CHASSIS.

With reference to By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design}3/AW.27.4.39 and By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design}1/AW.27.4.39.

Will you arrange to fit these brakes to 7.B.V. This car has an obsolete brake system and it will be necessary to provide a new set of brake drums for it; one set of the drums instructed in By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design}2/AW.27.4.39 will be satisfactory if ready and will complete a Ripple II brake system.

The rear axle, being an obsolete fully floating type, should be replaced by the semi-floating axle off 3.B.50 or 30.G.VII, which will be free in a day or two.

The front hubs will also have to be changed to suit tin wheels and the hubs off 9.B.V. (or any other hubs without angular contact bearings) will be available shortly.

The various axles and hubs which are being released should on no account be scrapped. They are wanted for dynamometer and mock up jobs.
