X1263 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bmg22/KW.3.12.35. Rubber Mounting for Bentley Petrol Pump on Dashboard. It is suggested that a rubber mounting for the fuel pump be incorporated on the Bentley Chassis until such time that the pump is removed from the dash as per scheme Lec.4670. Rubber mounting D.75221 is fitted to Ph.III chassis. This mounting is solely to dampen noise created by the operation of the fuel pump, and is effective to the extent of approximately 50%, as it prevents the dash from acting as a sound box. 5-B-IV covered 13,500 miles fitted with a Ph.III petrol system incorporating this rubber mounting. 3-S-1 also had one fitted for the 20,000 miles test. The weight of the rubber is 3 ozs. There will be a slight difference between the Bentley and Ph.III mountings, inasmuch as the bases of the two types of pump vary slightly. If possible we should like to bring this scheme in on the 3.5" bore Bentley. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/J.Bowering. | ||
