I enclose herewith copy of report from Mr. Kenneth Clark's Secretary, together with a copy of the Works' report. I have not given Mr. Clark any explanation at present. Do you think we ought to write in the man-ner indicated by the Works.

also
The car which was driven on the Con-tinent by Mr. Northey and Mr. Hanbury in the Spring, is found to have the sa[m]e defects, but not quite so bad, the propeller shaft in the MonteCarlo car being twisted 45°, whereas Mr. Kenneth Clark's car was twisted at 135°.

I understand that Mr. Northey is of opinion that it is impossible to avoid this twisting owing to the fact that the cars are exposed to far greater strain on the Continent, especially when crossing mountains, than they ever get in this coun-try. Consequently, some improvement ought to be made as we ought not to admit to our customer that the shaft is not strong enough to stand sudden strain.

Supply free of charge
Say nothing but regret
W. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} tell us not to make any charge

[Handwritten notes in bottom right:]
Ask Works to repair on shaft question.
Surely it should be strong enough to withstand skidding of wheels
