X.4299 I quite agree with the standardisation of this axle for the heavy cars, (i.e. over 50 cwt. complete with passengers) the 15-toothed one doing excellently for the light cars, and certainly seems to have no disadvantage, the petrol consumption being very little affected by the change. I always thought the consumption might increase more quickly. We have now carried this matter far enough except with excessively heavily weighted car/armoured cars of 4.3 tons when I think a double reduction 6 to 1 back axle will be needed; this, we are suggesting.
