20/25 BIG BORE AND NEW TYPE REAR AXLE. Big Bore Engine. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} stated that the production of 15 new carburetters per week does not present any difficulty, but there are no patterns in existence for the P.III. Carbur-etter - this is a serious item. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} agreed to loan his car to Experimental at once, but made it clear that the new carburetter on his car, when starting up, is unsatisfactory and does not correct itself until the car has been driven about two miles. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} thought that we ought to get in touch with the Zenith people as soon as we have the carburetter finished to our quality. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} may consider getting into touch with them before then - referring to Mr. Turner's letter. When the new carburetter is introduced on production it will be of the hand-operated choke type for a short time - the automatic type will be introduced as soon as possible. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} agreed he could rig up a new engine quickly, and after running it for two days Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said they could tell how long they would need it and if extensive tests were necessary. We have no dies for pistons. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} was instructed to get Mr. Brock to make these immediately. Rear Axle. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} mentioned delay with axle tubes. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} asked why we should change type of axle at commencement of "L" Series. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stated that the present type of production axle from a strength point of view was strong enough but the axle is noisy. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} would like the matter clearing up as to whether the improvements both for the engine and the axle should run 10,000 miles. Borg & Beck Clutch. We have had a pressure plate crack. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} stated that he was fairly happy about this. It presented no difficulty. It is bought-out and we can get quantities. | ||
