Radiator shutters are still working satisfactorily. A slight rattle has developed from the vanes. End play has developed in actuating rod from dash to radiator. GEARBOX. Generally, this is O.K. There is a slight leak of oil from front and rear bearings, and the oil leaks from the tower when very hot. Starter motor chain has been adjusted two notches. SPHERE. This appears to be quite O.K. We have not heard any knocking from this at all. SERVO. Dismantled and examined. This was found to be in a good condition, and free from oil. REAR AXLE. This has got very poor. It has developed bad growls at low and high speeds, both on picking up and retard. Brake operating mechanism - O.K. The two brake drums aluminium covers are badly knocked up by stones. O.S.R. shock absorber bracket on frame has been bent. PETROL TANK. A slight leak has developed on the bottom seam, close to the near-side. We have soldered this up temporarily. It appeared to be a faulty joint. ELECTRICAL FITTINGS. These, generally, are O.K. Better armouring of connections to rear lamp should be supplied, as in our case the armour has been worn right through by the continual buffeting from sand and slush, etc. The electrical cut-out has stuck on three occasions. Examination of the points shews them to be very badly burnt and pitted. We have cleaned these up as far as it is possible. REAR ROAD SPRINGS. We have tightened up the bolt going through bearings one serration. GENERAL EXAMINATION UNDERNEATH CAR. Tie rod, diagonal stays and brackets, rear spring main contd :- | ||
