-3- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wat.10/MA.7.10.35. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Conclusions. As a final result of the tests carried out, the following suggestions are made :- (1) The spring, carrying the moving contacts, be made of a lighter gauge material for trial; 29 S.W.G. or 30 s.w.g. might be tried. (2) The support carrying the fixed contact be made more rigid. (3) A double heavy flexible, similar to that on the standard cutout, be used to bridge the hinge; the other two being left off. (4) The flexible connections to the shunt coil be made heavier, to give increased mechanical strength. At present they are mechanically weak. (5) Some extra turns might be tried on the series winding with the view to reducing the reverse current to below 2.0 amperes. In connection with (1) the spring supplied was of .018" (26 S.W.G.) material, and too stiff to permit full travel of the armature. To obtain the required flexibility, they had to be filed narrower.
