-3- off side bracket failed owing to the near side rivets becoming loose, but it may be that the off side bracket had been broken for some time and this would then throw the whole of the strain on the near side bracket notwithstanding the possibility that these rivets were loose. The one remaining bolt in the broken bracket would not prevent that side frame from twisting to a considerable extent and consequently not taking its share under load. With regard to Mr Spinney's report attached, I think he raises an important point with regard to the action when one front wheel is raised higher than the other, but he does not raise the most important point, which is, that there is a very considerable side thrust under these conditions on the front horns which develops into a torque | ||
