X1332 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Phantom III. Tyre Noises etc. Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}E. Referring to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/MJ.20.4.36 and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}21/KW.17.4.36 we have now tried 36-EX. We consider that it is very much better than when we tried it in Derby. It has, as your memos. say, been fitted with rubber between axle and frame and the rubbered shackles so it is evident that these things are worth pursuing. We notice that this car did not have the tyres with the chamfered edge, which means that with them, it would be a little better. We are now going to send the car to Hoopers to get the metal floorboards removed and wooden floorboards inserted as per my memo. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}12/E21.4.36, and then propose to try it over the same route again with a view to seeing what further improvement, if any, is effected thereby. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
