- 7 - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/ML.24.1.41. We have already obtained the necessary materials and hope that Mr. Ward will be able to complete the body and frame within a reasonable period of time. He has already said that he can do this but, we believe, is worried about the cost, as he will have to pay the men who work on it, aircraft rate. (b) Engines. It occurred to us that, if we could get the large, 4-cylinder engine that was originally intended for the Senior Range, into this car, it might extend the price range considerably, and, at the same time, produce a vehicle with very nearly Bentley performance, if the customer would be content with a genuine top speed of 80 m.p.h. We therefore went into the question and found that it could be done without sacrificing the low horsepower version of the Myth appreciably. If PL.139, Sheet 11., is referred to, it will be noted that the dash to front wheel dimension is 18.5". On EB.20012, we have put the larger engine into the same car and yet reduced the dash to front wheel dimension to 15.5". You will also note that the wheelbase of the final car has been reduced from 8 ft. 9 ins. to 8 ft. 3 ins. without sacrificing accommodation. In other words, as a result of investigation, the car has been made more compact. The complete range of engine sizes therefore, which have been design to go in the Myth, are given in the Table overleaf. - Continued - | ||
