GRY{Shadwell Grylls} X.317 To EY. from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} SECRET. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}2/HP.9.9.35. c. RHS. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Please receive herewith:- LeC.4597 showing a crankshaft with integral balance weights. The amount of balance in the weights is 75% of the present shaft. Not only is this shaft cheaper to produce and has no loose pieces but it considerably helps with the assembling of the connecting rods. Also herewith LeC.4672 showing the oil retaining device at the rear end cover of the crankshaft. This is on the same lines as GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}'s experimental scheme but improved we think in regard to the air scoop from the flywheel, and also means are provided so that the bolt heads will not damage the felt when dropping the shaft into the engine. LeC's 4597 & 4672 herewith. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
