W/Crewe. SECRET. Mr. Morris. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Mr. Garner. c. Lov.{Mr Lovesey} Handwritten: No file Handwritten: 1210 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/ML.11.3.41. TEST OF SPECIAL MERLIN AT CREWE. We have been running a special test on a Merlin engine at Glasgow. Unfortunately, owing to production troubles and the small number of test beds that they have running, it is no longer convenient for us to operate up there. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has therefore recommended that we should complete our tests at Crewe. Lov.{Mr Lovesey} has agreed that we can have the test bed allocated to Experimental work for the time being. A truck should arrive at Crewe with the engine and all the specialised test tackle peculiar to it, on Wednesday night, the 12th. or Thursday morning, the 13th. March, accompanied by C.Caisley, who has been running the tests. As soon as the pieces arrive I hope to visit Crewe and discuss the programme with Garner. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
