to Mr. [REDACTED]. from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} copy to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [REDACTED]. PHANTOM. SCUTTLE ISOLATION. N.S. It is reported that the coachbuilders find that the Holes for the rubber plugs in the scuttle armature come to close to the lower edge of the wood and that the inner washer foul the dash casting. We notice on F.79578. that the clearances are fine. We suggest that the bolt be raised, by the following slight alterations, by an amount of at least .125ins. as indicated on the enclosed blue print. (a) Reduce the diameter of the washer on the front of the dash. (b) Let the same washer come closer to the bonnet angle. ~~which can be gashed out more.~~ (c) Slightly reduce the size of the hard rubber washer in the dash. We would like the clearance at a minimum between any metal part of the body and the dash to be called for as .250.min. We would also like a note added to the effect that, if draught is to be avoided the space between the scuttle and dash where the ~~bolts are not~~ should be filled with rectangular strip sponge rubber cemented and tacked to the scuttle armature. We would be pleased if Derby would arrange to make a modified drawing for sending to us and for Sales approval. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Enclosure. Print of F.79578. | ||
