X. 4284. REMY DISTRIBUTOR,

During some observations of the Remy distributor in the laboratory it was noticed that the contact points were considerably offset from the cam. Any oil drawn up from the distributor bearing on to the cam face and thrown off centrifugally clears the points and so prevents any pitting or blackening occurring.

This is not the case with our standard distributor as the contact breaker points are directly in line with the cam and any oil thrown off from the cam would appear to be inevitably deposited on the points (assuming that the rubbing block only touches the cam at the lobes) causing pitting and blackening.
