RE DIMMING DEVICE FOR HEADLAMPS. Several months ago London asked Messrs Lucas to supply a means of dimming the headlights when passing a vehicle coming on the opposite direction. At the Conference on January 5th it was stated that a device supplied had been tried with little success. To extinguish the headlights is not possible as the wing lights are not sufficient to drive by.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Since this appears to be a matter of serious importance I feel it should be brought to your notice.
