To WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. " " HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} " " BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} " " DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL X.4219 X4240 X4264 E4/G21/6/21. X4270 RE PROGRESS OF "GOSHAWK II" CHASSIS. X4270 In reply to your memo WOR{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}7/M17/6/21, we make the following remarks about the three items raised by Mr. Coverley:- (1) Dashbrackets and Footboards. x4270. The information regarding these was sent through and completed. We have, however, been compelled to hold up the dashbrackets as in dealing with the control scheme we found it necessary to make some modifications. (2) Radiator. x4240 There should be no reason for the radiator and fan cowling awaiting for the louvres and thermostat control. Mr. Royce's intentions are as stated in our original memo issued with the radiator, that the chassis should be completed without shutters, but room must be left for attaching these afterwards. The drawings of the fan cowling that have been sent are suitable for applying shutters afterwards, as also is the radiator for applying the thermostat. These two parts, the radiator and fan cowling, should therefore be issued. (3) Steering Column Box and Support. X4264 These have been completed from West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, and the only reason we can assign to Mr. Coverley not yet knowing about them is that Mr. Bailey is working on the detail drawings. The remaining outstanding items named in your memo are therefore as follows:- Ignition Fittings - Scheme about to be sent. Starter Pedal & Fittings - Scheme nearly ready. Shock Damper rear - We shall adapt an existing shock damper. Starter Motor - The preliminary drawing of the motor has been sent to Derby and Mr. Clark is working on the electrical quantities which have already been roughed out at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. Dynamo - do. Undershield - Partly schemed. Dashbrackets and Footboards - Slight revision required with the control scheme. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
