Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/ML.9.9.40. 704 MONOCOQUE CONSTRUCTION. The fact that we are playing safe on the first Myth by giving it a frame, does not mean that we are abandoning ideas of making monocoque motor cars. We think that the small car on the Corniche lines, which was drawn out in the early stages of the Myth body development, would make an admirable alternative to the Myth. We are asking Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} to get out a water colour sketch of the prospective frontal view of this car. When we have completed the Myth we think that we may go ahead with the designs of this, as an ultra-modern small car. It will be modern in appearance, fully monocoque construction, with the minimum possible weight, and it will largely represent what we should like to do, had we the time to develop it before going into production. We have been considering the question of body capacity and have thought of cutting down the room in the modern version of the Myth. On second thoughts however, we believe that for the class of customer for which we propose to cater, the Myth internal dimensions represent the minimum standard of comfort. The monocoque car will have to get it's modern performance from reduced weight. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
