IGNITION COIL TO L.O.P. D.72503.-

There does not appear to be any fault with the coil, we have not had any failures with this ignition.

MAGNETO.-

The distributor and contact points are in good condition. It has remained fairly quiet.

DISTRIBUTOR TO L.O.P. D.72169.-

The distributor contact points are making full contact and show no sign of burning. We have observed that a slight amount of oil works up past the cam, but in no way interferes or gets on to the contact points. It comes from the hand oiling of the distributor and not from the gear casing.

HEAD LAMPS & FITTINGS. SPOT LAMP.-

The head lamps show a very good beam of light for night driving. The o/s lamp bracket was found to be loose and could not be tightened up. The fitting is such that if the base of the standard is not the width of the frame, the side plates will not give sufficient to make up the deficiency. We had to fit a packing plate behind the plates to enable the base to be nipped up. The spot lamp glass was broken early on by some object on the road. A new glass fitted has again been broken. It looks as if the low position of the lamp makes some protection necessary for Continental driving.

BODYWORK GENERALLY.-

The bodywork has stood up very well, no serious deterioration has taken place. There has been trouble with the n/s rear window due to the mechanism for lowering falling off, the small angle bracket fastened to glass retainer came adrift. Water enters through the windscreen wipers, these having worked loose. The rear luggage box dithers on the back panel of the body, which can be distinctly heard when sitting in the rear seat.

The oil used in the various units is as follows:-

Engine: Mobiloil "BB".
Gear box: Mobiloil "C".
Rear axle: Whittmore's Compound.
Central Lubrication: Mobiloil "BB" changed from "A".
Steering box: Mobiloil "C", latter part "CW".
Hydraulic Dampers: Mobiloil "E".
Propeller universal joints: Whitmore's Compound.

PETROL

Engine run on Essence Poids Lourds (Commercial petrol).
