USA File Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Commodore Hotel, New York. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}16/KW10.1.34. I hope you had a good crossing and that RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} wasn't detained on Ellis Isle. We have run the Terraplane minus crank damper and find the top period at 3200 r.p.m. The damper therefore copes very adequately with the top period. On a nine bearing engine the speed would be even lower. Can you therefore find out from General Motors whether this is common practice, and that even with nine bearings the top period of a straight 8 is of no account and easily damped out. All going very well except for flames devouring the green one in the fitting shop. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/H.Grylls. | ||
