LOW RATING SPRING SHOCK ABSORBER LOADS.

The shock damper for use in conjunction with low rating springs are all set to the same poundage front and rear, which is H.P. 115. L.P. 90.

The effectiveness of the damper for various types of customer can be regulated by drilling holes in the H.P. valve. This should only be carried out at a Depot where a recognised shock absorber expert is available.

Generally speaking, two standards of loading are employed -

Holes in H.P. Valve.

Front. | Rear.
Average. | One .044 hole. | Two .036 holes.
Maxim. Softness. | Two .038 holes. One .032 hole. | Two .038 holes. One .032 hole.

If a customer considers the average loading allows too much spring movement it is permissable to reduce the size of the holes in the valve or even eliminate them altogether, but if this latter step is taken it will largely cancel the advantage of low rating springs.
