DELETION OF SILENT TAPPETS.

Further to the discussion on the deletion of silent tappets in cases where a customer has had tappet trouble, we find that we have completed a 15,000 miles test in France with the hydraulic tappets put out of action. The scheme run was exactly the one it is proposed to fit to customers cars.

In view of this fact, we do not see that we are justified in going to the expense of removing good tappets from Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}'s car in order to repeat the experiment.

We would recommend that REC. puts one or two of the new type camshafts through, and that these should be sent down to Cricklewood, together with the pieces which replace the hydraulic plungers.

We have asked Ey. to regularise the procedure, and on completion of the necessary drawings they will be handed to Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} to enable him to issue a Depot Sheet.
