Dear Sirs,

Your Reference:- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}5/AP.

In reply to your letter of the 24th instant the reasons for our objecting to the Sleeve, is that we have always found it advantageous when using Thin Wall Bearings to pass a ball broach or a ball through the Bearing before reamering, in order to get the Bush to key into its housing.

If a steel Sleeve is fitted, we do not think it would be possible to do this. Apart from this, our experience has shown us that make-shift experiments do not turn out successfully.

Regarding the Thrust Washer, this is made from cold rolled material and is coined in order to confine the metal. Our reason for sending you this washer, is, we thought that as this is a standard product, you would be in a position to purchase from us at a considerably lower price than you could turn your present ones.

Yours faithfully,

VANDERVELL PRODUCTS LIMITED.
C.A. Vandervell
Director.
