FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M4.11.26. 20HP. CAST DASH ETC. X5500 Since the 10,000 mile 20HP. car is to have a subframe body we have gone over the cast dash again with a view to making it suitable for use with a subframe. Roughly it means making it 2" wider, and we send herewith N. scheme 2265. shewing what we propose. We have also dealt with the scuttle stiffner on this drawing. With reference to the floorboards would Derby kindly set out the revised 'D' type pedals suitable for the cast dash and subframe on lines similar to N. scheme 1989. The object of this is to enable HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to make the floorboards in Derby as the coachbuilders will not be able to do so. We appreciate that you have just completed a cast dash for the standard width of dash, and we suggest that if you think too much work is involved in making another pattern for N. scheme 2265., it might be possible to add the increased width by fitting a plate to each side of the dash, either by burning or soldering, or alternatively we suggest that you might find it possible to cast one of the original cast dashes, and from it make a pattern suitable for this dash. However, as it seems likely that the majority of experimental cars at least will in future have subframes, it seems likely it will pay to make a new pattern. Would you kindly supply us with an extra print of N. scheme 2265. We also wish a set of stiffner parts to be sent to Messrs Hooper's as soon as they are available.
