Bentley - Accessible easy brake adjustment.
------------------------------------

As a result of the trouble experienced on the recent 10,000 miles test car in France, of the easy brake adjustment mechanism becoming inoperable due to the ingress of water and mud, efforts have been made to find some sort of a protective covering for the parts involved.

Both metal and leather covers have been experimented with and neither have been completely successful. As an alternative we have approached Desmo Limited. on the question of supplying suitable rubber covers and have received drawings of their proposed scheme which looks more promising than anything else.

It is not possible, however, to obtain any of these for test until tools have been laid down for producing them, and we are informed that the part cost of these will be in the neighbourhood of £15 to £20.

We think that we should go ahead with this scheme and ask Desmo. Limited to produce some sets for testing. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is in agreement with this.

Covers will be necessary only on 'A' series cars, as there is a new design of brake adjustment, which it is hoped to bring on 'B' series and in which the vulnerable parts are covered up and should not be affected by water.

We should like your permission to proceed further with the Desmo rubber covers.
