RE STRAIGHT SIDE TYRES.

Dear Sirs.,

With regard to your favor of the 3rd inst., reference BY16-P31022, Col. Matthew has handed this to the writer for attention, as it deals with a technical point connected with tyres.

We would say in reply that the direction of rotation of the tread pattern is of comparatively little importance and it need not be taken seriously into account.

If there is any advantage at all it will be found by rotating in the direction mentioned by your London Inspector, namely, that the point of the "V" of the Traction Tread reaches the ground last.

This method seems to very slightly increase the fore and aft grip in certain circumstances, and also seems to provide a slightly more uniform wear of the diagonal blocks.

We trust this is the information you require.

Yours faithfully,
FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO.

(Sgd) W. Bond,

Service Manager.
