c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} 102-1 8th.November 1938. BY.12/N. Messrs.Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Prints of Experimental Chassis Design. Confidential. We would like to suggest that all blueprints of designs for the chassis and bodies of Experimental Cars be filed in a special cabinet. All drawings in use during the day should be returned to the file during non working hours and kept under lock and key. At the moment you are producing bodies for three different chassis which have a common basic frame, engine, gearbox, back axle, etc. and therefore certain chassis designs are common to all. We suggest that you follow our line of thinking in taking the B.5. type chassis as a basic and file all B.5. chassis designs in a separate compartment. There would be also separate drawers or compartments for designs peculiar to B.50 and Wraith 80, with a list in each compartment telling which of the B.5. type chassis designs are applicable to the two derivative models. As designs become obsolete we shall supply revised schemes, and it is essential that the obsolete scheme be destroyed. Messrs. Draper and Evernden propose to visit you on Thursday next, November 10th. (arriving St.Pancras 11.20 a.m.) to go over all prints in your possession to line up the job. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. CHIEF ENGINEER - CHASSIS. | ||
