X.433 X.5410 J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. - SPRING CONTROLLED REAR SHACKLE FOR FRONT SPRINGS+ Herewith are N.schemes 3453/54., alternative suggestions for the flexible shackle on the above car. Because of the short distance between the frame and the spring eye, and arrangement exactly like N.scheme 3452 (for P. 2.) does not seem possible. N. sch.3453 is very much like it, but the pads supporting the springs are not exactly normal to the movemtn, so that there is a little lateral bending of the springs, which is negligible on the P. 2. scheme. N.sch.3454 is an alternative with this feature reduced. The spring stress in both cases is maximum. We think we prefer N.sch.3453 as being more compact and conventional. The drawing is for the L.H. car but is of course easily adaptable to R.H. The 25HP is still shorter. The spring negative camber may have to be increased. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
