X. 4613 Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}, c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, Op-LMS, BY/C14/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 22. 7. 24. 20 HP. CHASSIS. SCUTTLE ISOLATION. --------------------------------------- With reference to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} 18. 7. 24. the only information we have in connection with the proposal to isolate the scuttle from the dash by the use of two bolts and rubber washers is by memo Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MP. 9. 7. 24. and a memo which is issued by Sales Dept. to coachbuilders, a copy of which we have only recently received. In Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MP. 9. 7. 24. it is recommended that the Rubber Insulating Strips should be entirely dispensed with and that of the four spherical headed bolts with rubber plugs, only two should be used, these two being in the vicinity of the top bonnet hinge. Although we still show the original rubber insulation scheme on our Chassis Prints for the 20 HP, we have only recently supplied to the Clyde Auto. Co. at their request, two of these spherical headed bolts and four rubber washers, and in accordance with instructions given in a circular letter issued by Sales, these two bolts will be fitted near the bonnet hinge and a rubber washer will be used between the scuttle framing and the dash, and on the driver's side of the scuttle framing under the nuts. We send you herewith blueprint F.33202 showing our interpretations of their proposals, and utilising existing pieces, and presume that this is in accordance with your requirements. We shall be glad if you would arrange for some definite scheme so that it can be standardized as soon as possible so as to clear up this matter. BY/C. | ||
