Experiments on Dixie, C.A.V., and Bosch motor-cycle type magnetos.

| X. 2918. To Ry. from EFC. EFC5/T14317. 14th March 1917. RE MAGNETO EXPERIMENTS. Re the above experiments on Dixie and C.A.V. motor-cycle type magnetos, instructions for both the direct drive (i.e. at one and a half times engine speed) and for the geared up drive (i.e. at three times engine speed), have been issued in the case of the Dixie magnetos. It would appear, however, that in the case of the C.A.V. magnetos, instructions have only been issued for the geared up drive, and not for the direct. Perhaps no special instruction are necessary in this case however. As Mr. Elliott has been asking for the experiment of the direct drive of the C.A.V. magnetos at 1 1/2 times engine speed, to be carried out, we shall be glad if you would look into this. With reference to the Bosch motor-cycle type magnetos, we now have one of these to hand, and we shall be glad if you will give instructions for the experiments as follows, to be detailed in the D.O.
