Dear Mr. Geoffrey Smith,

Thank you for your letter of 18th February.

It is correct to say that the brake system on the B.V is of the Girling type, though the only parts actually supplied and manufactured by the Girling people are the wedge units.

I think that the best way to put it would be to say that "Girling expanders are used to operate the brake shoes".
