It is urgent because it permits of the permanent arrangement of fabric coupling on the gearbox shaft, which is so necessary. Also whether the spring is effective in preventing the shock, and also if it gives the necessary flexibility to keep the gear in mesh driving all the time. From some of the notes I remember some remarks about a resistance. There should be no external resistances except perhaps the small high resistance to reduce the sparking at the contacts. The actuating coil and the auxiliary motor coils (A.F.C.) should be wound each to give suitable strength of magnetism, and as far as I remember it seemed to me that the auxiliary field coils should be wound finer, and the actuating coil coarser than the first attempt.
