Experimental Department RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}1/AP. 12th July 1937 General Plastics, Inc., 26 Walck Road, North Tonawanda, N.Y. U.S.A. Dear Sirs, 'Durez' Resin. With reference to your advertisement in Automotive Industries of 12th June, we notice you claim that your resin is suitable as the sole bonding agent in a brake lining. Would it be suitable for impregnating a woven asbestos fabric.? The trouble we have at present with our bondings is that after about 8,000 miles service the resin glazes on the surface and assumes a tacky state which causes bad brake squeaks. If you claim that your product is unlikely to behave in this manner, we would like to obtain sufficient from you to make a dozen sets of linings, and to receive any instructions or advices that you are able to give us, as soon as possible. Should you be able to despatch a sample of your resin on receipt of this letter, we shall be glad to pay for it. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
