give their opinions whether piston knocks can be accepted.
X.462. (2) SHOCK ABSORBERS 7-CA. is fitted with Truffault Shock Absorbers. It has been decided that Shock Absorbers which work in the same way as thes shall be fitted to the After-the-war-chassis. We remember seeing a sketch of a shock absorber from Mr. Royce in which a number of friction plates were used with varying amounts of slack in the slots in the plates. We have never had any instructions to make any of these shock absorbers. We suggest that as the "Truffault" shock absorber gives such great improvement in the riding of the car, an attempt should be made to get some similar type in hand to suit our chassis.
X.3082. (3) STARTER MOTOR We hope to have one of our latest starter motor equipments fitted to 7-CA shortly. This includes the new motor, switch and actuating box.
X.3129. (4) BATTERY IGNITION We assume that as all cars will be fitted with the starter motors, we shall fit a non-trembler form of ignition. We suggest that the necessary modifications should be put in hand to make the 6-cylinder set as fitted to 49-GB. suitable for the chassis. The condition of the contacts breaker points, were not very good on 7-CA after the run down from Derby. The capacity of the condenser and the ballast resistance should be altered to suit the comparative very slow average speed of the car engine. If the modifications mean new stabalite mouldings, they should be put in hand as soon as possible as it takes months to get the first samples of these parts.
