Dunlops recently supplied us with two tyres from their Canadian factory with a view to showing us a tread pattern which had the appearance of being a better non-skid and improved silent tread. We have tried these tyres and they are certainly reasonably silent. We are sending one down to you for examination to see if you like its appearance. Actually we do not suppose their non-skid properties are any better than the improved silent tread. We have recently completed a 10,000 miles test on the latest India tyres. We are satisfied that these tyres wear as well as the Dunlops, they are not very noisy and when run at a slightly lower pressure give equal riding comfort. They were run at this reduced pressure in France and their life was satisfactory. We are shortly circulating a standardisation sheet for these tyres and suggest that you get a set from Capt. Bowman from the Car Mart and try them on one of your demonstration cars. Our tests so far indicate that they are not appreciably inferior to the improved silent tread Dunlop for skidding, and you may think their appearance is preferable. Naturally the question of fitting India Tyres as an alternative standard involves a certain amount of policy, we have only been concerned with their efficiency. The India tyre we believe to be an entirely British product. HB{C. E. Harcombe}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
