CARS IN EXPL. GARAGE, JUNE 30th.1937.

PHANTOM III.

32-EX. Left for France 3.7.37 on 15,000 miles test.

33-EX. Used for clutch and suspension tests. Also test with alternative makes of cyl. liners. Gordon Armstrong dampers. Lightened crankshaft.

35-EX. Chassis stripped in the Fitting Shop for inspection after 15,000 miles test. Body at Park Wards for repairs.

36-EX. Clutch and gear box with overdrive tests. Engine fitted with close clearance inlet valves.

37-EX. Used for cooling system tests both at Brooklands and Derby. Fitted up with 3rd. petrol pump scheme. Packard crankshaft.

39-EX. Continental chassis fitted with lightened parts. Tests with flexible flywheel and clutch. " " petrol pumps in frame. New rear mounting to improve engine smoothness.

4 1/4 LITRE BENTLEY.

1.B.1V. Used for brake testing with various linings and drums also stiffened crankcase. Big ends in Hall's metal. Cyl. Block by Midland Cyl.Co.

3.B.1V. Cooling tests with radiator having fixed shutters and thermostat. Packard type crankshaft.

5.B.1V. Tests with stiffened frame box section and conventional suspension, also braking tests.

6.B.1V. Now stripped after 15,000 miles test, chassis being rebuilt, body at Park Wards.

B.23.AE. Used for cyl. bore and piston ring wear and effect on oil consumption. Fitted with Hall's metal main and big ends. Rear main bearing to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}67 to stop cracking. Strengthened conn. rods. Increased inertia damper reduced to 25%
