EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}10/KT.7.3.33. Re. BENSPORT 4. EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/3.3.33. With reference to item (2) of the above memo, the standard scuttle tail lamp was fitted to the Bensport car under discussion and was also connected up. This light was situated so that it illuminated the instruments in the recessed centre panel of the facia board, (no other means of illumination being available). The light is diffused considerably to avoid glare when illuminating the instrument board, and for this reason and also because it is situated some distance to the right of, and forward of, the front seat passenger, it is totally inadequate for map reading purposes. If this type of instrument board illumination is to be used, it will be necessary to provide a second scuttle lamp mounted above the facia board locker; if it is to be at all useful for map reading, this is the only place for it to be fitted.
