FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL SPORTS PHANTOM - SLIPPER FLYWHEEL. X8300 / X634 We send herewith drawing LeC. 2472. shewing the modification to the above reducing its diameter. We have added as much metal as possible in width, but the flywheel will be still less in value than what we have been using. This however we think will be quite in order owing to the increased rate of vibration of the crankshaft system which should be obtained on this engine. The drawing also shews two driving springs for the flywheel of different poundages to the standard one at present in use. The last named has very high stresses and we do not think it will be necessary to employ such a spring on this engine. The driving plate in the flywheel is shewn fixed to the rear portion by means of screws: this enables the assembly on the engine to be made conveniently. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
